Roxanne Shante Partners with Actor to Assist Uninsured Struggling Artists

(Image: Vibe)

Pioneering femme mc Roxanne Shante has decided to assist struggling artists.  She has partnered with actor Lin-Manuel Miranda for a new initiative, Lincoln Art Exchange, which provides medical services to uninsured artists in exchange for works of art at the Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx.  As detailed in the Wall Street Journal, this program will provide uninsured freelance artists with an array of medical services such as doctor visits, laboratory visits, hospitalization, emergency care and more in exchange for painting murals or providing performances at hospital events.

This sounds like a wonderful project.  I’m sure this will be a great exchange of services.  Hopefully, this type of program can replicated in other cities across the country.

Mia X’s Recipes and New Single, When I Grow Up

In addition to being a rapper, apparently Mia X is also a cook.  Over at Allhiphop.com, Mia X recently posted an article in which she details her recipes some delicious baked macaroni and her signature “I’m Rich, B****” cupcakes.  I just had to post this because I was Mia X fan when No Limit was on top and I still am a fan.  But do not fret, this post isn’t all about recipes.  Check out her newest single below as well.

Baked Macaroni and Cheese Recipe

Step 1 – Make ya groceries:

1 16-ounce package of macaroni

1 stick of butter

1/2 cup of milk

1/2 cup of evaporated milk

1 cup of sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup of mild cheddar

1 cup mozzarella

1/2 teaspoon of mustard powder or plain mustard

1 jar of Ragu three-cheese sauce

1 jar of Cheez Whiz

large saucepan

baking pan

Step 2 – Make ‘Ya Mac & Cheese:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Boil macaroni according to package directions. Tweek the boiling water by adding 2 tablespoons of salt and 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.

Once pasta is boiled to tender, drain the water, saving 1 cup, and DO NOT rinse the macaroni.

Cut half of your butter into blocks and place them into your baking pan. Pour hot macaroni into the pan and add your milk, cream, water saved from boiling the pasta, cheese sauce, mustard powder, and Cheez Whiz.

Stir evenly. Once the Cheez Whiz and sauce is is evenly distributed throughout the macaroni, salt and pepper to taste. Add your cups of mozzarella and mild cheddar cheeses and evenly work them through the macaroni.

Top macaroni with sharp cheddar and use the remaining half of the butter, cut into blocks, to top your sharp cheddar. Bake 15 minutes or until slightly golden on top.
